Opium War

From 1839 to 1842 China fought in the Opium Wars against Britain. It all started when China and Britain started trading Opium which was juice from seedpods which was used to produce heroin. Many of the Chinese people were hooked to the drug by the early 1800's. The drug had a very big impact on China a lot of people were hooked on it 10% of China was smoking Opium. Opium was intended to help cure disease but it didn't go that way. In 1839 Britain arrived in China with their gun boats and destroyed many costal cities.. That was known as the first Opium War.

Film lesson:Mountain of the Moon!

The hardships of exploring Africa is that the mosquitoes carried malaria and people died from it. Another was you had to sleep with the light off because if you didn't the bugs would crawl on you and also it would get in your ears that's what happen in the movie. The reason why they w9ere exploring Africa was to find the source of the Nile river. Which they did find and when they found it they named it lake Victoria after their Queen and what was so funny about that is that the Queen is white and Africa is a black country. So its weird to name a lake after a white woman a black country. They had guns and the Africans didn't. So that's why it was so to conquer Africa because when they came back like 20 years later they had machine guns and things like that so that's why it was so easy to take over Africa.

Imperialism Project

The reason why we did this project is so we can learn about how imperialism spread across the world. What I learned from this project is that imperialism did have a big effect on the world on the world and that it spread rapidly. What i remember from the project is that I had to draw a lot of shipping routes and also remember coloring a lot countries because imperialism was spreading.

Karl Marx and Communism

Karl Marx was a very educated man he got his doctorate degree by the time he was 23. He met his lifelong friend Friedrich Engels. Marx moved to London to continue his studies. In 1883 Marx died. In 1848 his booked got published where it said "Workers of the world unite!" According to Marx capitalism was the seed of its on destruction. He believed that history was a struggle of the rich and the poor. Marx wanted everybody to share the same wealth but that didn't make any sense because some people didn't work as hard as others so why should they get paid for doing nothing and other people get paid for working as hard as they could I don't think he though about that part. What he tried to do was positive but he should of approach it a different way.

Karl Marx and The Industrial Revolution

Karl Marx had his own look on the Industrial Revolution. He did not like the Revolution at all. He felt like the rich was getting richer and the poor was getting poorer. He felt that the conditions of the factories was very harsh and unsafe. He wanted the workers of the world to unite and have and worldwide revolution. He also thought that wealth should be distributed. He thought that all people should get paid the same amount of money he also thought that the workers should run the factories instead of the landlords. All Marx wanted to do is have everybody treated the same he wanted factories workers to get treated the same as everybody else.

Nationalism and the creation Italy

Nationalism to me means that you are proud of your country and where you come from. I am some what nationalistic I am proud to be from America I'm also happy to be Cuban as well. I eat Cuban food I wear the Cuban and American flag, but sometimes I wonder if I like being from America because sometimes we can be very selfish and we are in a very tough Recession and our crime rate is threw the roof. Some people that that nationalism is a force of disunity and some people think that it is a force of unity. Nationalism broke up 400 year old empires and people really started to realize that nationalism can bring together masses of people.

The Enlightenment

The Enlightenment, was influenced by the Scientific Revolution. They no longer had Kings and Absolute Monarchs, what they tried to do was come up with the best system of goverment as possible. One of these people trying to make this possible was John Locke he proposed that people should ahaved the natrual ability to rule themseleves. He thought maybe that they didnt need kings around telling them what or how to do things. He felt that people were born free and and equal so they havethe right to do what they wanted so he wasnted to come with the law called the natrual rights, natrual rights meant liberty, LIFE, and property. The rules to this natrual right law was that tghe goverment had to protect these laws and if they failed to do so the people had the right to overthrow the goverment. There were other great thinkers just like Locke but he made a difference and he is responsible for our goverment today.

The Scientific Revolution

The Scientific Revolution is a era. It was an era that didn't start at specfic date it started at differnet times people contributed to Scientific Revolution at different times like Leonardo Da Vinci, Issac Newton, Nicolaus Coperni0cus, they all contributed to the Scientific Revolution but they did it at different times some one in the 15th century another in the 17th century. The Greeks also contributed to the Scientfic Revolution the Romans did as well. Aristotle was famous too but he was also known to get proved wrong but he was one of the most famous scientist. Gaileo was famous as well because he was the one to prove Aristotle wrong about heavy objects fall faster than lighter objects but he found out that the all fall at the same time.

Scientific Revolution:The Scientific Method

Scholars got their ideas from the Romans and Greeks, they believe these ideas because they're brillant and we still use some of their ideas to this very day. Some people found the Greeks and the Romans to be wrong like for example Galileo tested a theory that Aristotle came up with and his theory was that heavy objects fell faster than lighter objects but Galileo proved him to be wrong objects with different weight fell at the same time. For scientific information most people just look in the Bible . The new scientist use something called the Scientific Method. What they did was test other theories and prove or disprove them they didn't believe in any theory they would test them and see if they were right and they would come up withtheir on conclusion. Issac Newton was another man that proved Aristotle wrong. Issac Newton explained the laws of gravity. Aristotle believed that one set of physical law governed the earth and another set governed the universe but Newton proved him wrong and said that the law of gravitation applied to the earth and the heavens.

Evolution Vs. Creation

Evolution, evolution is change, it can mean when something is changing it is also developing, it can mean something is getting better. For example the world develpoed surely but slowly from the first two people being on earth to billions of people on earth that's a major change. The book definition saids that evolution means "any process formation or growth". I can see how that can be linked to our world today because we have grown a lot. Darwin's theory is that all life is related, the birds, bees, and the flowers are some how related. He is also saying that we all are related some how and what i mean by that is also we are realted to the birds and the bees. They also believe that once befor humans were apes but we evolve to humans of the years.

Creation, creation many people believe that God made the earth, and that he had me the 1st two people of the earth which many people say it was Adam and Eve. People also believe when Adam and Eve had sexual realtion they had kids and their kids had kids by having sexual relation with each other but, some people don't think that because your kids would have down syndrome. Jehavoh witnesses believe that the earth was once perfect until Adam and Eve ate off the tree which was called the "Tree of life" so there were no dying or dieases back then just perfect life so the children didn't have down syndrome. People of our world don't know what religion or what theory to believe all that we know is that we are here on earth with no exlanation on how we got here some people say they know when the earth was created but noone really knows when the earth was created.

My opinion, my opinion is that the Jehovah witnesses are right I do believe that life was once perfect. What I don't believe is that we were once apes in that case all the apes in the world would be humans too me it doesn't make sense. I do believe in evolution I believe that we have developed we went from only having radios and plays as our entertainment no we have concerts and tv and we also have computers, iphones, ipods and etc. Those are some evoloution changes we just became more advance in technology we also develope in crime rate and the people in the world so that's my opinion of evlution vs. creation. My opinion CREATION!!! wins.
