Nationalism and the creation Italy

Nationalism to me means that you are proud of your country and where you come from. I am some what nationalistic I am proud to be from America I'm also happy to be Cuban as well. I eat Cuban food I wear the Cuban and American flag, but sometimes I wonder if I like being from America because sometimes we can be very selfish and we are in a very tough Recession and our crime rate is threw the roof. Some people that that nationalism is a force of disunity and some people think that it is a force of unity. Nationalism broke up 400 year old empires and people really started to realize that nationalism can bring together masses of people.

The Enlightenment

The Enlightenment, was influenced by the Scientific Revolution. They no longer had Kings and Absolute Monarchs, what they tried to do was come up with the best system of goverment as possible. One of these people trying to make this possible was John Locke he proposed that people should ahaved the natrual ability to rule themseleves. He thought maybe that they didnt need kings around telling them what or how to do things. He felt that people were born free and and equal so they havethe right to do what they wanted so he wasnted to come with the law called the natrual rights, natrual rights meant liberty, LIFE, and property. The rules to this natrual right law was that tghe goverment had to protect these laws and if they failed to do so the people had the right to overthrow the goverment. There were other great thinkers just like Locke but he made a difference and he is responsible for our goverment today.
